Millésime is the French word for vintage and notes the year in which a wine was produced and bottled. When we were looking for the perfect name for Bandol Vins & Comestibles' new customer magazine, we fell in love with the word's beautiful... french-ness? Anyway, four issues in and our infatuation with anything French has only grown stronger since.

Bandol Vins & Comestibles sells wine and delicacies from Bandol, a wondrous wine region in the Provence, known for its beautiful landscapes and very strict rules about winemaking. A dream job, right? The more we get to know this world (by researching, producing and illustrating the articles for Millésime), the more we feel like simply giving up our lifes and buying a cute little French house on the Mediterranean coast. But, alas, we usually just end up drinking away our sorrows with a nice bottle of Bandol red, toasting another beautifully designed issue of our very own little wine magazine. Cheers to that!

How we find the stories

Researching for a new issue of Millésime is often one of the most time-consuming aspects of the process. We get the team together to brainstorm ideas and then set out to research the origins of the wineries represented in the Bandol Vins & Comestibles shop. More often than not, the wineries have rich family histories and, sometimes, bizarre anecdotes that are part of their brand story. We seek these stories out, contact the winemakers in Bandol and talk to them – until what started out as a mere seed of a story turns into a full article. Whenever we can, we try to illustrate the story ourselves – or research the best images to accompany it. As with many other wine regions in the world, the A.O.C. Bandol is full of history and tradition and exceptionally good products. Our job is to let the customers dive right into this world.
